10 Days | DPC Day 8, A Praying Church

Welcome to Day 8 of our “Parish 10 Days of Prayer” between Ascension Day and Pentecost Sunday.  I hope you are enjoying the daily prayers, worship and reflections on YouTube.

Today we have no recording on YouTube, instead I want us all to use the virtual prayer walk, to pray for our parish, the churches of our town and especially for our community of Donaghadee.

Lock down is tolerable for many of us because of the beautiful weather we have enjoyed.  But for many who are self isolating, it is a difficult time and a strain on many people’s physical and mental health.

Keeping in touch with church through our YouTube services and 10 Day Prayer Reflections allows us all to engage afresh each day with God and to connect with each other.

So today on Day 8, let us use our virtual prayer walk material to have one huge prayer meeting – sitting  at home or using the material, as you have your daily  walk around Donaghadee!

Don’t forget about the prayer request page on the Parish website.  You may also want to leave a message in the prayer line request box or send me a text, email or WhatsApp to say “I’ve joined the prayer time today!”  That would be really encouraging!

May we today meet God afresh in prayer and may He renew and sustain, by his Holy Spirit, our own lives, our families and our community of Donaghadee.

God bless you, sustain you and empower you.  May those for whom you pray this day, know God’s powerful touch and be drawn to a renewed and a living faith in Jesus Christ.

Collect for Ascension
Grant, we pray, almighty God,
that as we believe your only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ
to have ascended into the heavens,
so we in heart and mind may also ascend
and with him continually dwell;
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.  Amen
